This story begins with the Rev. Dr. David Nzioka, Pastor of Neema Community Church, who from a young age desired to make a difference in the world around him. Born and raised in Thwake, Kenya, he knew that the Lord could use anyone—even someone from humble beginnings—to make an impact in the lives of his family, his community and the world.
Not long after David Nzioka completed his secondary education, he joined the Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Voi, a large town near the coastal region of Kenya. His pastor at the time was Rev. Dr. GG Gitahi, who currently serves as a pastor of the Kenyan American Community Church in Atlanta. Pastor David learned under the mentorship of Reverend Gitahi before joining seminary at the Presbyterian university in Kenya. Reverend Nzioka worked in the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Nanyuki before moving to the United States with his family in 2002 to further his education.
Reverend David made the long journey from Africa to the USA with his wife, Dorothy, and his daughter, Faith. After arriving in Kansas City, David earned a Masters of Divinity from Central Baptist Seminary and went on to receive his Doctorate in Missiology from the University of Dubuque, Iowa. It was during this time that he became a pastoral intern at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, KS, and began making connections that would impact not only his own future, but the future of his Kenyan people, both in America and in Africa.
